thelokalsingapore.comBeing an impatient person, I tend to turn my
nose up at queues. But there’s one spot that
I’d happily stand in the pouring rain for, and
that’s The Lokal. It’s no wonder weekends
here are heaving! The servings are wholesome
and hefty, and most are well under $20. My
favourite is the
toasted banana bread and
homemade vanilla yoghurt with toasted
macadamias and caramelised bananas
($12); or, if it’s a savoury kind of brunch you’re
after (or a hangover you’re looking to cure),
try the
roast chicken panini with crispy
pancetta, avocado and aioli
($15).
Tip:
Try to
nick a seat at the Chef’s table; watching all the
food prep really gets that appetite going and,
if you’re lucky, chef-owner Darren Farr will treat
you to the a few freebie titbits!

bergsburgers.comIf you’re craving a hearty meal and a
burger’s the only thing on your mind,
I’d recommend heading over to one of
Bergs’ delightful little joints, where there
isn’t a soggy bun or a dry patty in sight.
Feast your eyes on a menu with a wide
variety of burgers to suit anyone’s palate;
if the choice is too much, then you won’t
go wrong with “The Berg” ($12) – a
traditional
hamburger with lettuce,
tomato, onion and yummy aioli
. Really
hungry? Opt for “The BFB” ($18.50) with
two patties and eight toppings – you’ll
need to dig out a knife and fork for this
one! Fancy an Asian twist? Just add a
little
wasabi mayo
. And don’t forget
the fries: fat and crispy, just how we like
them. Bergs offers delivery and catering
services, too.
