BIG SCREEN
A LITTLE CHAOS
When Madame Sabine De Barra (Academy Award-winner
Kate Winslet), a strong-willed female landscape gardener, is
granted the esteemed assignment of constructing the grand
gardens at Versailles, she’s thrust into the very centre of the
court of King Louis XIV, where she challenges gender barriers,
while simultaneously becoming entangled with the court’s
renowned landscape architect, André Le Notre (Matthias
Schoenaerts). This dramedy-romance also stars Stanley
Tucci, and Alan Rickman as King Louis XIV. Opens 7 May at
Golden Village cinemas.
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD
Set in the farthest reaches of the planet, in a stark desert
landscape in which humanity is broken, this post-apocalyptic
action-adventure follows Max (Tom Hardy), who, after losing
his wife and son, leaves the Main Force Patrol to roam the
wasteland of the Outback. There he meets Furiosa (Charlize
Theron), a woman who wishes to journey back to her
homeland in order to achieve the path to survival. Opens
14 May at Golden Village cinemas.
GOOD KILL
A conflicted Las Vegas-based fighter pilot turned drone pilot
(Ethan Hawke) battles the Taliban by remote control for 12
hours a day, then goes home to the suburbs to feud with
his wife and kids; dealing with his own moral dilemmas,
he calls into question the rationale for targeting supposed
terrorists. Also starring January Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Jake
Abel and Bruce Greenwood, this sci-fi thriller investigates
the human costs of advanced technology, and offers an
unsettling look at drone warfare and the damage it causes
not just abroad but at home, where soldiers suffer from post-
traumatic stress disorder without even having stepped foot
on the battleground. Opens 28 May at Cathay Cineplexes.
