Back for its ninth edition, the
da:ns festival
presents
renowned works by some of the most accomplished
choreographers in the world, including Tony Award-
winner Matthew Bourne (UK), The Royal Ballet’s
Wayne McGreogor (UK) and the “Queen of Flamenco”,
María Pagés (Spain). During the 11-day festival,
audiences have the opportunity to experience nine
different ticketed productions that incorporate a
range of dance forms – from ballet to pole-dance
to traditional Indonesian, Thai and Filipino dance.
Highlights include
I, Carmen,
a fresh take on the
famous femme fatale tale, explored through flamenco
dance; the anatomy-defying production,
FAR;
and a
contemporary interpretation of the classic ballet,
Swan
Lake.

the meaning of grief, hope, retribution and forgiveness.
Nominated for four Tony Awards, this psychological drama by
Bryony Lavery is sure to resonate with audiences and stay with

Jazz Royalty Returns
Renowned American jazz guitarist and composer
Pat Metheny
returns to Singapore this month to perform his signature brand of
jazz fusion, as part of the Mosaic Music Festival; he last visited the
Lion City back in 2006. The 20-time Grammy winner’s trademark
sound involves elements of progressive, contemporary and
Latin jazz, and post-bop, with strong influences from Brazilian
music and pop. Known for incorporating innovative technologies
and developing new instruments and guitar models, Pat has
continued to redefine the genre throughout his career. 27
