Over the past year, Chef Eran Mayer
has developed a loyal following for his
authentic European-style bread, and
on that reputation has just opened a
sixth and seventh outlet at Katong and
Chevron House. The hard-working
French-trained chef has added classic
comfort fare made from high-quality
natural ingredients to the all-day menu.
Coffee, made with Toby’s Estate beans
is a big drawcard too.
ABC is perfect for brunch, lunch or
family dinner – casual and relaxed – and
linguine and meatballs
($16) topped
with fresh basil and parmesan will keep
hungry, noisy kids quiet.
Adults can tuck into the six interesting
salads. Among the veggies in the
garden pesto
($14) are beans and
both sundried and cherry tomatoes,
and it’s topped with fresh handmade
rocket pesto.
Organic quinoa crush
($16) combines white quinoa, green
lentils, fennel, apple, cranberries,
parmesan and greens into a heady mix.
These salads are big, but a pastry, a pie
or a quiche would be a nice addition
(and you can take home any leftovers).
Men may be tempted by the
roast
chicken
breast ($19), an option that is
both tasty and healthy.
Don’t leave without allowing the kids a
serve of the
vanilla cream profiterole
($12), smothered in creamy Belgian
chocolate. I can guarantee silence, and
that they will be begging to return.

For brunch, try the Shakshouka skillet – eggs baked in
cumin-scented tomato sauce served with warm Turkish
pide bread, cucumber salad and tahini dip
