Ready to Rock
Audiences can look forward to seeing one of the all-time
guitar hero greats,
Joe Satriani
, when he comes to town for
a one-night-only performance. Expect songs from his recently
released album,
Unstoppable Momentum
, along with other
tunes by the 15-time Grammy nominee, who’s also lead
guitarist for the band, Chickenfoot – the group he formed
with Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony of Van Halen and
Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Joe is credited
with teaching some of the top guitar players of the 80s and
90s, including Metallica’s Kirk Hammet, and he has toured as
lead guitarist with legends like Mick Jagger and Deep Purple,
among others. See it 13 November at 8pm at The Star Theatre
at The Star Performing Arts Centre, 1 Vista Exchange Green.

Kiddie Concerto
Specially tailored for babies and preschoolers, the
Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) Babies’
Proms
gives little ones the chance to discover the
world of the orchestra and its many instruments.
Led by London-born conductor, Peter Moore from
the Australian Chamber Orchestra, each of the four
performances will last one hour, with pre-concert
activities held at 1.30pm and 3.30pm for the
respective shows at 2pm and 4pm. See it on 5 and

Philharmonic Fun
Symphony lovers are in for real treat this month, when world-renowned
conductor,
Zubin Mehta
, returns to Singapore for the first time in
25 years for a performance with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Famous for his impassioned and flamboyant style of conducting,
Maestro Mehta has conducted this orchestra in over 3,000 concerts,
with the likes of Andrea Bocelli, Pinchas Zukerman and Renée
Fleming – he’s even got a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. For this
one-night-only Singapore show he’ll lead the orchestra in a lineup
that includes Vivaldi’s
Concerto in B minor
, Mozart’s
Symphony No.
36
and Tchaikovsky’s
Symphony No. 5

Valery Gergiev
, world-renowned conductor
and artistic director of the Mariinsky Theatre in
St Petersburg, will lead the London Symphony
Orchestra (LSO), together with guest pianist
Denis Matsuev, in two nights of music
featuring works by Romantic-era Russian
composers Shostakovich and Rachmaninov
on 19 November, and others by Prokofiev
