New choices and things to do, buy and try

UPFRONT

Wings of Time is Sentosa’s latest night spectacular, replacing the

long-running Songs of the Sea from 17 June. Set on an outdoor

stage on Siloso Beach, it features a new backdrop, dancing water

fountains, 3D video-mapping and pyrotechnic effects. The 25-minute

show runs twice-nightly (7.40pm and 8.40pm), including on public

holidays. Admission for residents is $15.

We know Singapore is

an expensive place to

live, so we’ve tracked

down some freebies

to make your money

stretch a bit further.

For adults:

Every

Friday between 6 and

9pm, the

Singapore

Art Museum

waives

all entry fees. Across

the road, the

National

Museum of Singapore

offers free entry to the

Singapore Living Galleries from 6pm every day; it

closes at 8pm, but two hours is plenty of time.

For kids:

Head to your local

fire station

(we

recommend the historic Central Fire Station at 62 Hill

Street) to see the fire trucks, meet the firefighters and

get a free fire station tour. Saturday mornings only,

from 9am to 11am. scdf.gov.sg

National Museum this year. The annual event is

a special exhibition focused on childhood and

featuring playgrounds, larger-than-life games of

yesteryear, interactive installations, engaging

performances and a film screening. Suitable for

ages three to seven. 10am to 6pm daily, until 3

August. Free entry. National Museum of Singapore.
