We were looking specifically for a bed
with a trundle or pull-out mattress to
replace the cot bed that my daughter
had outgrown, as well as storage
solutions for her room. We had bought
other furniture and ornaments from
Origin Asia when we first moved here
after seeing an advertisement in
Expat
Living
, and we had always found
the staff helpful. Rebecca was also
very accommodating when it came
to changing designs or making any
modifications.
We bought a child’s wooden bed with
a trundle, a headboard and a footboard.
There was one in the showroom that we
liked, but we asked Rebecca to change
the shape of the headboard slightly and
alter the shape of the feet tobe less ornate.
We also bought a matching shelving unit
and a seat with storage baskets to put at
the foot of the bed. All the pieces came
in a white-wash finish. We particularly

relocated to Singapore after living in
Dubai for five years, and I was pregnant
with our first child. We therefore needed
someone to help us build a nursery from

Pottery Barn’s kids’ furniture, but it’s not
available in Singapore, so I asked Felicia
to use Pottery Barn’s style as reference.
Felicia and the Gallery 278 team
are very pleasant to work with. As a
new mum, I knew only more or less
what I wanted and the way it should
look. Felicia’s experience as a mother
of three, as well as her expertise as a
designer, helped me refine my plan and
found me the ideal furniture for my son
Alexander John (“AJ”), who is now 15
months old.
My favourite piece is the sleigh bed. It’s
very well made from solid wood and has
built-in safety features, and it comes with
a waterproof mattress. I like the elegant
look, how sturdy it is and that it grows
with the child. It’s a baby cot with rails on
both sides which can be easily removed
to convert it into a regular children’s bed.
It can also be used as a stylish day bed
by removing only one of the rails.
We also bought a baby-changing

breastfeeding, plus a storage system
designed by Felicia. It all fits into AJ’s
room very nicely and I think his nursery
is the most beautiful room in the house!
