HEALTH&FITNESS

October14

Eat , P lay, Dance

The inaugural

Adult Playground

will fuse fitness, food and

music, all in the name of fun. The outdoor festival will feature

a line-up of local musicians and 22 sporting activities on

both land and water, from human foosball and dodge-ball to

floating lily pads, NERF Super Soakers, Slip-and-Slides and

a water-based hamster wheel; and playtime’s not complete

without cocktails from the beach bar, sorbet popsicles and

health-conscious grub from gourmet food trucks.

8 November at Siloso Beach, Sentosa. Tickets from

www.adultplaygroundsg.peatix.com .

BIKE FOR A

BETTER FUTURE

Looking for a dose of culture and fitness

that’s also for a good cause? Then

you’ll love the ninth annual

Angkor Wat

Bike4Kids

race, a bike ride that benefits

four Cambodian charities working to protect

children and prevent human trafficking. With

a choice of 17, 30 and 100K race routes, the

event is open to all ages and fitness levels,

and takes participants around the entire

Angkor Wat complex. 6 December. Register

at

www.bike4kids.org .

GET GLOWING

Back for its second year, the

Illumi

Run

is a non-competitive 5K run

where participants – equipped with

LED wrist-bands and glow-in-the-

dark shutter shades, among other

glowing paraphernalia – make their

way through themed music zones

while being splashed with special

“glow water” for a night of neon fun.

Complete with dancers and DJs, and

a full-blown bash at the finish line,

this party on the run will take place

on two separate nights – 27 and

29 November – flagging off at 8pm

each evening at the F1 Race Village.

Register at

www.illumirun.com .

Coming Up

GO COMMANDO

If you’re looking for a serious challenge, this one’s for you. Based on

the physical tests that win soldiers entry into elite military units, the

Commando Challenge

will have you crawling through mud, coping

with water obstacles and more. Though Special Forces training

isn’t necessary, you are expected to confront your fears and push

yourself to the limit. Choose from Saturday (15 November) night’s

Commando Course, which involves 12 military obstacles on a 5K

off-road course, and the super-demanding Extreme Commando,

which includes 28 military obstacles on a 5K, off-road course – both

end with a party at the finish line. Meanwhile, the Teen Commando

on Sunday 16 November features 8 military obstacles along a 2.5K

off-road course. All three routes are on Sentosa, incorporating Siloso

Beach, jungle tracks, elements of the MegaZip adventure park and

a historic

fort and tunnel section of Siloso Fort.

If you’re up for it, register at

commandochallenge.sg

. But don’t

say we didn’t warn you.
