I grew up in both Morocco and in
Paris, Melun.
What is that region most
famous for?
Le Brie, the cheese.
Who cooks in your household?
I do – I’m a keen cook.
Where do you shop for ingredients?
At Cold Storage, and at the French grocery
Quartier. I sometimes buy bread at Maison Kayser.
What do you miss the most from France?
Chicken
cordon bleu
and
galettes
. I also miss
the amazing variety of French cheeses, foie gras
and patisserie, and the traditional markets of
France, especially their fresh seafood and organic
vegetables.
Your favourite French meal?
Cheese platter, duck
rillettes
and wine!
Your favourite French restaurant in
Singapore?
Le Nicolas, close to Outram Park, for original
cuisine made from very fresh ingredients.

Where in France are you from?
Metz, in the east of the country.
What dish is it most famous for?
La choucroute
– an originally Alsatian dish of
sauerkraut with sausages and other salted meats.
Who cooks in your household?
I like to cook, but I’m not very good!
Where do you shop?
Marketplace or Cold Storage. I don’t buy a lot of
bread, but when I do I get it from The French Bakery
(148 East Coast Road), from Paul or from Tiong
Bahru Bakery.
What do you miss the most from France?
Bread and cheese!
What is your favourite French meal?
Quiche.
Which is your favourite French restaurant
in Singapore?
I like Le Gavroche. Their steak tartare is very good.
