THE SCENE
When you walk out of your place,
the first thing you see is:
Condos, condos, and more condos.
The closest store to your
front door is:
A furniture store – Origin Asia.
Your neighbours are great, but
you wouldn’t mind a little less:
Renovation; there is constant building
noise around our condo.
The unofficial uniform of your
street is:
School uniforms! There are three or four
schools in the area and loads of children
going to and from them.
If a celebrity moves in next door,
it will most likely be:
Nicole Kidman, as her niece and
nephew go to one of the schools in
the area.
When you’re in need of a dose of
culture, you:
Visit Tiong Bahru, one of the oldest
housing estates in Singapore, with loads
of cafés and markets.
If you’re missing home, you:
Look outside! It’s hard to miss England
when the sun is always shining here.
A mandatory stop for out-of-town
guests is:
The Singapore River, which is only a
short walk from our street.
You’d swap houses in
a second with:
The only house on Grange Road. A
friend of mine used to live there, and it’s
a massive house in the perfect location.
A common myth about your
neighbourhood is:
That it’s for expats only. There are loads
of locals in our area and they love it like
we do.
If you’re ever woken up at night,
it’s almost always due to:
Ferraris. They come speeding along our
road at all hours.
A massive late-night rager on
your street is likely to be:
The expat teenagers. (Sorry!)
