The Palace on Wheels was constructed
for Indian royalty before the country’s
independence; it comprised personal
coaches of the former rulers of the
princely states of Gujarat and Rajputana.
The train ceased regular operations in
the early 1980s but made its first trip as
a unique holiday train in 1982.
