TRAVEL

260

May15

I consider myself a fit person. However, after a wall-climbing session with

Indran, not to mention a high-speed, high-humility tumble off my jet ski, my

muscles were begging for some R&R. So while the boy cozied up to his

GQ

mag on our hammock, I made a beeline for The Geo Spa.

Propped against the towering limestone cliffs with an open-air assembly of

floating pavilions, the spa complex is an impressive setup; one where I would

gladly have stayed well past my welcome had I not had a post-treatment dinner

reservation. Employing the healing elements and natural ingredients of the

island, the spa’s selection of treatments is comprehensive.

Itinerary essental:

A must-try for

honeymooners is the Raja & Ratu

treatment (120 minutes). This ritual

focuses on three specific chakras –

sacral, heart and crown – to maximise

emotional and sexual connection

through the use of locally sourced

ingredients. This journey of love

concludes with a traditional blessing

ceremony. Early risers should also join

our sunrise yoga at 7.30am at the Lotus

Pond; the budding lotus flowers are a

beautiful sight to start the day.

Top tip:

The best time of day to book

a treatment is from 1pm to 3pm, when

it’s the quietest. Stick around and relax

in our cabanas afterwards, and you

may catch sight of dusky leaf monkeys

passing through the spa to get to the

higher trees.

Venturing outside the resort:

For

great local food, check out The Fish

Farm. Voted Best Restaurant during the

most recent Langkawi Innovation Travel

Awards (LITA 2014), this place has a

great ambience. Yellow Café at Cenang

Beach has great European food,

particularly the French baguette salads.

The sweet-toothed should head to The

French Factory next to Cenang Mall.

Made just like in Brittany, the traditional

crepes are delicious. My favourite is the

caramel salted butter crepe.
