Coming up with a favourite travel destination
is tricky.
There are somany beautiful and special
places that I’ve fallen in love with, but my number one
continent is Europe. It has everything: history, food,
culture and beautiful architecture, and a fantastic vibe.
Closer to home, Bali tops the list; I take up to seven
trips there a year, although my hometown of Ipoh in
Malaysia is very close to my heart right now with its
big revival. It has such a softness and kindness to it.
And seriously, who can beat the food? I always pig
out when I go there.

There are plenty of great places to eat in
Singapore.
For simple yet gorgeous food,
head to Burlamacco for Italian, or Blu Kouzina for
Greek. And for a great gathering it’s got to be either
Catalunya, ME@OUE, Bacchanalia or Senso.

For drinks, Beaujolais on Ann Siang is a
perennial favourite;
or Bartini, for its laidback,
comfortable feel and great offerings. The service is
always impeccable, the staff really take care of their
regular patrons and, importantly, I feel safe if I’m
sitting there waiting for a client or a girlfriend who is
fashionably late. No one harasses you. Otherwise
I love Lantern, Level 33 and some of the bars on
Duxton Hill.

Home style tip I can’t get out of my head?
Surround yourself with things that you love. Your
home should be a reflection of who you are.

Dennis ismy “go to” upholsterer;
he’s fabulous,
and incredibly patient. Although his portfolio
spans the breadth of Singapore, and he has five-star
hotels as his clients, he is always there personally to
attend to everything. His email is clk_dennis@yahoo.
com.sg, or you can call him on 9451 7218.

Plenty of travel means plenty of style
inspiration;
it serves as the biggest “mood
board”. People, places, architecture, history, food,
culture, fashion and craftsmanship inspire me.
Karl Lagerfeld would have to be my fashion icon,
and Martin Lawrence Bullard for interiors – he has
an amazing range of styles, and a larger-than-life
personality.
