Changing your headboard to
transform your room
“Headboards are such an easy and cost effective
way to fill space in a room with a high ceiling like
mine. Even in a small room where you can’t fit a
chair, it’s a nice way to add softness. They are
inexpensive to make and there’s not too much
labour involved. You can choose a lovely, striking
fabric, as you don’t need very much, just two or
three metres for a king-size bed. You can do endless
variations on shapes depending on the look you
want, and add nailing or contrast piping for detail.”
Elizabeth’s headboard is made with material
from Claremont.
Right: “My mother is so
creative, as is my aunt,
who designs jewellery
and has also worked as
a costume designer on
movies such as Out of
Africa and The Constant
Gardener. This is a picture
of my granny’s house,
where Ralph Fiennes
was filming The Constant
Gardener, and one of my
granny’s maids. She looks
so bemused!”
