Here’s our pick of this month’s

happenings on the big screen and

the small screen

Chef

After Miami-born chef, Carl (Jon Favreau), tries to open a

restaurant in Los Angeles and fails, he returns to Miami to

start a food truck, and reconnects with his family, including

his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara). This star-studded comedy also

features Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson. Opens

5 June at Golden Village cinemas.

Blended

After a disastrous blind date, single parents Lauren (Drew

Barrymore) and Jim (Adam Sandler) agree to never see

each other again. But when they sign up for the same African

safari, they’re forced to share a suite during a weeklong family

getaway. This romantic comedy is the third collaboration

between Barrymore and Sandler – and sure to make for a

good time. Opens 5 June at Shaw Theatres.

The Angriest Man in Brooklyn

A foul-tempered Brooklyn man (Robin Williams) is told he has

90 minutes to live, sending him rushing all over New York to

make amends. This dramedy also stars Mila Kunis and

Game

of Thrones

actor, Peter Dinklage. Opens 19 June at Golden

Village cinemas.

Transformers:

Age of Extinction

A mechanic (Mark Wahlberg) and his daughter make a

discovery that brings down Autobots and Decepticons upon

them, as well as a paranoid government official (Kelsey

Grammer). As the fourth instalment of the popular franchise,

this film features an all-new human cast, and both new and

returning Transformers characters. Opens 26 June in 3D,

IMAX 3D and digital at Shaw Theatres.

Big Eyes, Big Minds Singapore International

Children’s Film Festival

Back for a fourth time, this festival – the first in Singapore

dedicated to kids – will showcase a selection of films from

around the globe, including live-action shorts, animation

films and documentaries, some of which were made by

kids. The festival’s programmes and workshops have been

curated to engage children, enrich their worldview and

inspire creativity. 13 to 31 May, 1 June and 6 to 8 June at
